A response...

This is a response to Adam Westgarth's post concerning the Milan Massacre.
Considering all the hype and controversy over England fans and their match violence, I think it is only fair that Inter Milan should be banned from next year's Champions League competition.
If something like this had happened in a Premier League game, which it has, then action would have been taken immediately. Remember when an Everton fan threw a coin at Manchester United shot stopper Roy Carrol? The thug was found and banned for life.
A United fan early this season launched a flare on to the pitch at Old Trafford and was banned from the ground for life too.
However, throwing a flare at a player is a completely different matter. AC Milan goalkeeper Dida was struck on the should by a fans flare, causing minor burns to his upper body. Yet we have had no news as to what punishment this supposed 'fan' received.
The referee stopped the game and awarded AC the win. Inter fans were furious - either with themselves, their team, or the moron who threw that flare. Calls are being made by countless critics asking for the club and the Italian Football Association to do something to make sure this does not happen again.
